What do we do?
The goal is to inspire creativity, learn music, and overcome stage fright.
These are NOT a band practice, you aren't expected to learn set list in every scale.
How we do our Open Jam Sessions
Improv
Typically, one starts a Riff, Progression, Drum beat, Lyrics etc.
Someone else adds a layer on top of that.
Song Writing
We come up with a theme and quickly write Lyrics chords or melodies
We plan the song out with music theory and group collaboration.
Tips to feel confident
Practice the basics!
Major scales. Forward and backwards starting anywhere
Major/Minor Chords. Playing them in different inversions and pitch
Rhythm. Metronomes, patterns, ascents, instrument techniques
Note memorization. To read or be told notes/chords and play them
These basics alone will make you an intermediate musician when mastered to a high level.
How we avoid the chaos
Listening to each other.
A confusing song usually means no one hears a pattern. more details at the jam.
Beginner Support.
We are always learning from each other at all levels. no one cares about your "mistakes". we'll only help you get better.
Talk to each other.
You don't need to be a singer to talk in the middle of a song. more details at the jam.
